Salmon patties

Salmon patties are pan-fried patties made from canned or cooked salmon, mixed with breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings. They’re a quick, protein-packed meal, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14–15 oz) salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or sour cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix the ingredients
    • In a large bowl, combine salmon, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix until well combined.
  2. Form patties
    • Shape the mixture into 4–6 patties, about ½ inch thick.
  3. Fry the patties
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Serve
    • Serve hot with tartar sauce, a side salad, or on a sandwich bun.

Tips

  • For extra crispiness, coat the patties lightly in additional breadcrumbs before frying.
  • Add chopped parsley or dill for more flavor.
  • Can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes for a lighter version.
