Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese ๐Ÿ is a classic Italian-style pasta dish made with a rich meat and tomato sauce served over spaghetti. Hereโ€™s an easy homemade recipe.

Ingredients

  • 200โ€“250 g spaghetti
  • 300 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • ยฝ tsp sugar (optional, to reduce acidity)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti
    • Boil salted water and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions (usually 8โ€“10 minutes).
    • Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the meat
    • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add chopped onion and cook until soft (2โ€“3 minutes).
    • Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the beef
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  4. Make the sauce
    • Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar.
    • Simmer for 10โ€“15 minutes until thick.
  5. Combine and serve
    • Serve the sauce over spaghetti.
    • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Diced carrot or celery for extra flavor
  • A splash of red wine for a richer sauce
