Cinnamon roll

Here is a soft and delicious Cinnamon Roll recipe you can make at home.


Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ½ tsp salt

Cinnamon Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup softened butter

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Activate the Yeast

Mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar in a bowl. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough

Add the remaining sugar, egg, egg yolk, melted butter, and salt.
Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.

3. Knead

Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.

5. Roll and Fill

Roll the dough into a 14 × 9 inch rectangle.
Spread softened butter over it, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.

6. Shape Rolls

Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 9–12 rolls.

7. Second Rise

Place rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes.

8. Bake

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

9. Make Frosting

Mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
Spread on warm cinnamon rolls.


✅ Tip: For extra soft bakery-style rolls, pour ¼ cup warm heavy cream over the rolls before baking.
