Sausage, cabbage, and potatoes

Here’s a classic Sausage, Cabbage, and Potatoes 🍲 recipe—hearty, comforting, and easy to make:


Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4–5 sausages (pork, chicken, or your choice)
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • ½ small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth (optional, for more flavor)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausages
    • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
    • Brown sausages on all sides until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables
    • In the same pan, add remaining oil or butter.
    • Sauté onions and garlic for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
    • Add potatoes and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add Cabbage and Seasonings
    • Stir in chopped cabbage and thyme.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
    • If using broth, pour it in to help soften the vegetables.
  4. Combine and Simmer
    • Return sausages to the pan.
    • Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cabbage is wilted.
  5. Serve
    • Serve hot, straight from the skillet for a rustic presentation.

✅ Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add smoked paprika or a splash of apple cider vinegar.
  • Leftovers can be reheated and still taste great the next day.
  • You can also make this in a slow cooker: layer ingredients and cook on low for 4–6 hours.
