Sodium bicarbonate removes grease from all these areas – the only way to work is to prepare it like this!

Posted on April 20, 2026 by Admin

That’s another exaggerated “hack” style claim.

What sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) actually does

Baking soda is a mild alkaline cleaner, so it can help:

  • Loosen light grease
  • Neutralize odors
  • Act as a gentle abrasive for scrubbing

It works best on light kitchen messes, not heavy industrial grease.

Where it can help (when used correctly)

  • Kitchen sinks (with vinegar or hot water rinse)
  • Stovetops (light grease stains)
  • Pots and pans (soaking + scrubbing)
  • Refrigerator shelves (odor + mild residue)

Where it does NOT work well alone

  • Thick, baked-on grease buildup
  • Engine oil / mechanical grease
  • Heavy oven carbon deposits (needs stronger degreasers)

For those, you usually need dish soap, commercial degreasers, or heat + scraping.

“The only way to work is to prepare it like this!” — reality check

There is no single magical preparation method. Common safe uses are:

  • Make a paste (baking soda + a little water) for scrubbing
  • Or combine with dish soap for stronger cleaning
  • Or use with hot water soak

Claims of a “secret method that removes all grease everywhere” are marketing-style exaggeration.

Bottom line

✔ Baking soda is a helpful mild cleaner
❌ It is not a universal or powerful degreaser by itself

If you want, I can show you real effective homemade degreaser mixes that actually work better than baking soda alone.
