🧾 Ingredients

For meatballs:

  • 500 g minced meat (beef, chicken, or mixed)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

For potatoes:

  • 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced or cubed
  • 1–2 tbsp oil
  • Salt + pepper

For sauce:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce or passata
  • 1 tsp oregano or mixed herbs
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp oil

Topping (optional):

  • Grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare potatoes

  • Toss potatoes with oil, salt, and pepper
  • Parboil 5–7 minutes OR bake/air-fry slightly to soften

2. Make meatballs

  • Mix meat, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, and seasoning
  • Shape into small balls
  • Lightly pan-sear (optional, for extra flavor)

3. Make sauce

  • Heat oil, sauté garlic
  • Add tomato sauce, herbs, chili flakes
  • Simmer 5–10 minutes

4. Assemble bake

  • In a baking dish:
    • Layer potatoes
    • Add meatballs
    • Pour sauce evenly on top
  • Sprinkle cheese if using

5. Bake

  • Oven: 180°C (350°F)
  • Bake for 25–35 minutes until bubbly and golden

  • Fresh salad
  • Garlic bread
  • Yogurt sauce or dip
